Can't backup to a CD

Backup HER Data to a CD
-----------------------
HomeSchool Easy Records version 2 will not back up directly to a CD writer. You get various misleading error messages when you try it. But there is a workaround...

To create a "Backup HER to CD" desktop icon (this works with Windows XP -- other versions will be similar). This tip assumes that you installed HER in the default directory -- c:\dpsher\
1) right-click on the desktop then click on "New", then
click on "Shortcut"
2) Were it says "type in location of the item" enter the
following exactly as shown...
%windir%\System32\xcopy.exe c:\dpsher\hsr2dat.mdb d:
3) Replace "d:" in the line above with whatever your CD-writer
drive letter is
4) Click on Next
5) Name the shortcut "HER Backup to CD" (or similar)
6) click on Finish

Now to do a backup, close HER so it is not running then double-click the new icon. You will temporarily see a window that indicates the backup is taking place and your CD should "spin up". After the window disappears, the backup should be done.
Note: The first time you do this, use Windows Explorer to confirm that the backup file "hsr2dat.mdb" is on the CD (and has a new date).
Note: Do not double-click this file in an attempt to "see" or "run" it. This file makes sense only to the HER restore process.
