Calendar: School year calendar
Previous  Top  Next

With HomeSchool Easy Records, you use a common school year (calendar) definition for all students. If you want to have different school years for different students, there is a way to do so. You need to install the program again, but in a different directory (such as c:\dpsher2). Once you do this you can set up an entirely different school year (and grading scale, etc) and keep records for student "B" there -- and student "A" in the original directory. When using the program, you need to switch between programs to work with one set of records, then the other.

Here's what you could do...

1) Start by making a backup of your data from the File menu of HomeSchool Easy Records

2) Re-install the program from floppies into a NEW directory (example: c:\dpsher2)

- when prompted to "Choose Program Group" create a different one than before (example: HomeSchool Easy Records 2)

3) Once installed, COPY (don't move) the file named "hsr2dat.mdb" from the directory where you originally installed the program (usually c:\dpsher) into the new directory. You will over-write the existing hsrdat.mdb file in the NEW directory.

Once you have done these three steps, you should have two Start-Menu items for HomeSchool Easy Records. Use one for one student and the other for the other. You will see records for BOTH students in each installation -- just ignore the records for the student you don't want to track in each one. Only the records for the appropriate student will update as time goes on after these steps.

You will need to keep two separate sets of backups -- one for each installation.
