Dates: on the new-entry line
Previous  Top  Next

You will notice when you are in the Lessons screen, Journal, or Books Read list that there is a date already entered for you in the "new record" line. This date is put in for you as a "default" to save you from typing in the date. Note: the "new record line" is the one with the asterisk (*) on the left side of the window. (The asterisk becomes a triangle pointer as soon as you put the cursor anywhere in the new record).

There are two things you need to be aware of regarding the new-record default date...

(1) The date that appears in the new record line is not really entered

into your database until you enter other text on that line. This

is because the new record line (the line with the asterisk) is actually

a "future" record that does not go into your database until you enter

other data on that line.

(2) If you are entering a new line of data and you change or increment the

date field with the plus key, the default date that appears on the NEXT

line (the new "new record" line) does not change. It still shows the

original default date. You will have to increment the date in the

new record line when you get there.

So if the date in the new record line (the line with the asterisk) doesn't look right, don't worry because that date does not go into your database until you enter other data on that line (and at that time you will correct the date to what it should be).

Reminder: To quickly enter today's date into the date field, put your cursor there and press the T key, or the Control+T keys. Or use the + or - keys to quickly change the date field.
