Apostrophes - When using Unit Study/Course Plan Summary
Previous  Top  Next

Syntax Error in Query Expression (Error 3075)

Symptom

In the Unit Study/Course Plan Summary screen, if you have entered a course or unit study name that has an apostrophe (') in it, you will get the above error message when you click the name, and you won't be able to read any information related to that course or unit study.

Cure

There is a sneaky way to fix this. Here is what you do...

If the course with the apostrophe is at the TOP of the yellow list, then when you first open the Unit Study/Course Plan Summary screen (by clicking on the Planning button) you will be able to edit the unit/course name and get rid of the apostrophe. If the unit/course name is not at the top of the list, you can move it there by temporarily renaming the others in the list.

1) Click on each unit/course name in the yellow list that is ABOVE the problem name and rename it by typing a "z" character at the beginning (you do this in the white text box that says "Unit/Course Name". For example, if your yellow list starts out like

Course 1

Course 2

Bill's Course

Course 3

Rename "Course 1" to "zCourse 1" and "Course 2" to "zCourse 2" so that the NEXT time you open this screen, you will see the list in this order...

Bill's Course

Course 3

zCourse 1

zCourse 2

2) Close and re-open this screen. Now since Bill's Course is at the top of the list, you can edit out the apostrophe or change the name to something else.

3) Now you can get rid of the zs in the names and things should be OK!
